The top cover of the gift box can be flexibly disassembled. In reality, it is actually a folding album. Through the folds, you can see our original artwork. Typically, these are sold as prints in Kickstarter projects, but we cleverly combined them with the gift box.
We define this gift box as a "setting collection" of the work, hoping that you can understand the entire product design process from it.
The back of the ShanHai cards showcase three different states when held, flicked, and spread. When the cards are taken out, the folding screen unfolds to reveal four divine birds on one side and the Queen Mother on the other.
The card back is designed in three dimensions. First is the static conventional card back, where the Queen Mother sits gracefully. Behind her is a leopard drawn based on her image in the Shan Hai Jing. The surroundings are adorned with bronze mirrors and bronze artifacts, symbolizing a distant, weighty, and mysterious history.
Next is the dynamic effect. In the bronze mirror, the image of the leopard is depicted as a yin-yang fish. As the cards are moved, the card back exhibits a splendid and changing effect.
Finally, back to tranquility. When the cards are fanned out, the same image as the folding screen is hidden within the 56 cards.
